VIVO X60 Pro+ off to an exciting launch

Earlier today Vivo just announced a latest entry into their flagship smartphone offerings; the " VIVO x60 pro+"

Vivo unveiled their handset powered by the next gen snapdragon 888 chipset boasting incredible gaming and networking performance as well as multimedia prowess. All of this is of course utilized by the special imaging system comprised of Vivo and Zeiss joint partnership which has proven to be a major selling point for the Vivo X series.

VIVO X60 Pro+ Hardware and Performance

The X60 pro+ utilises the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip, LPDDR5 memory with a theoretical peak speed of 6400Mbps and UFS 3.1 storage with a random write speed that is reportedly increased by 14%, how this impacts real world usage will be pretty interesting as smartphone makers are consistently aiming for app load times in the ms range. Thus, all the latest hardware features are in place. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip uses 5nm process technology, Adreno 660 GPU promising a mouth watering 35% performance gain over previous generation, Kryo 680 CPU architecture with advancements in performance and efficiency, and the third-generation X60 5G baseband. It has been upgraded in many aspects, especially in terms of AI performance, which is very helpful for the X60 Pro+ camera processing, with image performance given a staggering 3x increase in AI capability. Video codecs include Dolby Vision, H.265 (HEVC), HDR10+. At the same time, the phone supports enhanced memory management function, which can coordinate RAM and ROM operation for better synchronization.

... Okay it is evident that the snapdragon 888 specwise is a beauty to behold

VIVO X60 Pro+ Design and Screen

On the front, the phone hosts a 6.5 6-inch pole 3D flexible screen. Its parameters are very exiting. It features a 1080p hole-punch AMOLED screen with an E3 luminescent material and having a peak brightness of 1300nit; it supports HDR10+ with support for the Rec.2020 color space, 120Hz refresh rate for buttery smooth UI/UX experience and 240Hz touch response rate aka touch sampling to give the best response times most suitable for gaming. The screen is curved having an aperture of 3.96mm, and nominal resolution of 2376×1080, touting a fairly impressive screen-to-body ratio of 92.7%.

According to reports the VIVO X60 Pro+’s screen has been adjusted piece by piece, with an average ΔE≈0.506.

Appearance and Offerings

In terms of appearance, this handset still continues the X60 series design. At the same time, it offers classic orange and deep sea blue colors. Both use plain leather material.

VIVO X60 Pro+

Battery and Endurance

The handset is powered by a 4200mAh battery, which supports 55W fast charge. This is a lot better than the previous 33W. Even though it's a bit smaller, our bet is the power efficient chip should provide improved SoT

VIVO X60 Pro+ Camera

The main highlight of this phone is the camera with  two main sensors. One of them has a 50MP resolution, while the second main lens is a 48MP ultra-wide-angle micro-cloud platform sensor.

The main camera is the Samsung GN1 CMOS, and the second camera is the Sony IMX598 sensor with an area of 1/1.3 inch and a unit pixel area of 1.2μm, the area is fairly large and should provide enough lighting to images. In the four-in-one mode, the output resolution reaches 12.5MP, and the unit pixel area reaches 2.4μm. As said, the VIVO X60 Pro+ is the industry’s first ultra-wide-angle PTZ camera smartphone. The second main camera comes with a Zeiss T* coating. It brings better shooting effects and supports pixel shift technology.

The VIVO X60 Pro+ upgrades the image stabilization function, bringing a four-axis stabilization effect. At the same time, the X60 series also uses the VIS five-axis video stabilization technology. In fact, it is inherited from the X50 Pro. This allows users to shoot more stable and clear sports scenes.

The VIVO X60 Pro+ super night scene algorithm covers more scenes and comes with a laser focus to make night scene focus faster. Although I'd also love to see capabilities for recording video and capturing pictures simultaneously.

VIVO X60 Pro+

The VIVO X60 Pro+ brings the night scene mode to the ultra-wide-angle lens, which can also take better night scene pictures. How comparable it will be to offerings by Google and Huawei will be seen.

Special Features

Our protagonist can shoot movie-level video with a 2.35:1 wide screen. At the same time, it has got a professional video mode. The latter allows users to freely adjust the shutter, sensitivity, white balance and other shooting parameters. In addition to these shooting functions, the VIVO X60 Pro+ also supports old photo repair function.

By the way, the main camera adopts a composite multilayer coating + nanocrystalline structure coating. Each lens has a coating on both sides, and the nanocrystalline structure coating is used on smartphones for the first time.

The rest two lenses are the 32-megapixel 2X portrait sensor and an 8-megapixel 5X periscope lens. Another 32MP sensor is on the front which should provide enough detail for selfies and supports face recognition.

Price and Availability

There are two variants comprising 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB models. The 8GB+128GB version costs 4998 yuan ($773); the 12GB+256GB version comes at 5998 yuan ($928). Compared with the price of X50 Pro+, the price has not changed, but the 8+256GB version was 5498 yuan.

We can only wait to get on hand reviews and share our thoughts on how splendid or average it is.
